How to add images to your cache page

On geocaching.com you can add images to your cache description page, but some people do not know how this is done. I’m going to explain this in the shortest, simplest terms I can. The directions below should help, if you have problems feel free to post here

    Step 1:
Login to your account and go to the cache page you want to add an image to (this would be for a cache you own)

    Step 2:
Look on the right hand side of the cache listing page. There is a menu in a box called Navigation. The 7th link down is Upload Images. Click that link.

    Step 3:
You will be taken to a page with an upload form. Browse your harddrive and select the image you want to upload. Complete the form and press the Upload button.

you should get some sort of success message.

    Step 4:
Now go back to the cache listing page. Scroll down to the line that reads “Logged Visits ( 1 total. Visit the Gallery (1 image) )” … it is directly above where the logs start. Click Visit the Gallery.

    Step 5:
Once taken to the gallery, click the image. Click the image again. After clicking it a few times your browser will be taken to the image alone. In your browser address bar it should look something like this: img.geocaching.com/cache/log/XXXXXXX-XXX-XXXX.jpg (X = a random number)

    Step 6:
Copy that image address to your computer clipboard (highlight it and press ctrl+c).

    Step 7:
Now, head back to the cache listing page. Click the navagation link on the right that reads Edit Listing. This will take you to the edit listing page where you can add the image code.

    Step 8:
Make sure the checkbox next to “The descriptions below are in HTML” is checked. Then in the listing info, add the following code.

    <center> <img src=”PASTE-IMAGE-URL-HERE”> </center>

    Step 9:
Save your listing and go view it live. The image should be centered where you told it to be displayed.

    <center>

Knowing how to put images in a log sheet also allows you to add puzzle related images. You do not have to host the images on geocaching.com… if you have them on paid hosting elsewhere or on photobucket or other free source that works as well, but I like the fact that when they are hosted on geocaching.com I know they are not going to be down if the site is up enough to view the log.

I hope this helps, if it is confusing anywhere, feel free to post a comment
    Thanks! & Good Luck!
